The fourth small batch release from Lochlea’s First Crop range, each of which coincides with the current phase of their barley farming at time of release.
In winter, Lochlea farm is ploughed in preparation for sowing barley seed in spring.
Ploughing is Lochlea’s very first smoky release, the unpeated spirit was matured in a combination of barrels and quarter casks which previously contained peated Islay malt whisky.
These casks impart a warming, lightly peated character with notes of cooked apples, brazil nuts, boiled sweets and lingering peat smoke throughout the palate.
